Like a house, a website needs a good foundation in order to stand well in the search engines. That foundation is based on one-way backlinks: links to your website that point to you without you putting up links to those websites. So-called reciprocal links, where you and another website point to each other, are less valuable in terms of search engine rankings. Fortunately, there are legitimate ways to create your own one-way backlinks that will boost your Page Rank.
The idea behind valuing backlinks as a source of measuring authority is simple. The more websites that point to your Web page without you doing the same means you appear to have value to other people. By creating your own backlinks on high Page Rank websites, you can take advantage of this rule.
Blogs, videos, social networking and bookmarking site, select classified sites, news and press releases can all be a part of your backlinking strategy. The key to doing this right is to use the highest Page Rank sites at the “bottom” of your foundation, with links pointing “upwards” toward your website and “across” to your weaker backlinks. The shape of this organization is like a pyramid, with the strongest links at the bottom, all pointing upwards toward the website at the top and passing through the “weaker” links near the top.
This strategy is being used by some of the most sophisticated marketers in very competitive niches like Make-Money-Online. You can do the same in your own narrow, less competitive niches with great results. Because you will have less competition within these narrow niches, it will be relatively easy to dominate the search engines for your particular niche.
The foundation of this linking strategy is to use the highest Page Ranked sites to create Web pages that have backlinks to your main website and the lower ranked pages you will also create to give backlinks to your main site. The “weaker” pages will only have backlinks to your main site and never have reciprocal links to your higher ranked pages. There are several free resources you can use to measure the Google Page Rank of any given website. Do a search, find them and use them to set up your “pyramid” of links.
Another way to envision this strategy is that of a Master website with Slave Web pages that support the Master site. The strongest slaves are at the bottom, supporting the weaker ones above them and the master at the top. The weaker ones give support to the master, but let the stronger ones stand on their own, without backlink support. All of this backlink support flows to the master at the top, which has no backlinks to any of the slaves below.
Once you become familiar with using this method of backlink creation, you’ll easily implement it the next time you set up a campaign, affiliate program or product launch. Just start from the bottom and work your way up.
